About the event

Tobby Drillz is a Nigerian-born, DMV-based artist, who fuses Afrobeat, Afropop, and Amapiano sounds to make music “feel-good songs”. Tobby’s first EP “SMOOTH BOP” went viral during its release in 2020, often referred to as “pandemic music”. In 2021, his hit song titled “Mood” was nominated for a Wammie under the ‘’Best World Song’’ category. Last year, he released his highly anticipated EP “Stealing the Show” (STS), which was featured on Apple Music’s Spotlight page, and on Afrobeats Hits, Africa Rising, Future Hits, and New Music Daily playlists on Apple music. His music has also been highlighted on playlists across various streaming platforms, and his single “Ayi” was also featured on the Starz hit series Run the World on the series season Finale.

Tobby Drillz has worked with numerous artists and has received praise and accolades from artists like Busta Rhymes, Oxlade, Tiwa Savage, Wale, Gyptian, and Don Jazzi to mention a few. He has performed in numerous festivals and concerts, and has opened for acts like Lil Yachty, Vince Staples for the Art Attack at the Xfinity Center, the Splash concert with Movado and Alkaline, and he also briefly toured with Koredo Bello and Maleek Berry. In October he co-headlined at Heat Wave DC, one of the biggest Afrobeats concerts held in the DMV. HeatWave DC featured artists like Asake, Tiwa Savage, and Adekunle Gold, and had over 3,000 people in attendance.
