Grassroots Comedy DC Presents
Union Stage All Ages
Doors 6PM | Show 7:30PM

About the event

Join Grassroots Comedy DC in the celebration of five years since its first fundraiser as the nation’s premiere “comedic resistance” stand up comedy show!

For a special event comes a special lineup. Featuring an all-star cast of comedians including headliner Jason Weems (NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Amazon Prime), Blaire Postman (Lady ADHD), Martin Phillips (Cleveland Comedy Festival), Violet Gray (Night Train w/ Wyatt Cenac) and Leon Scott (WUSA 9 Comedy Writer) this may be their greatest show yet! Hosted by Chris Blackwood (Grassroots Comedy Co-Founder & CEO) and Kasha Patel (Thrillist magazine’s “Best Undiscovered Comedians in the US”).

Since January 2017, Grassroots Comedy has produced 70 comedy shows for nearly 55 non-profits in the Washington, DC area, and has raised roughly $40,000 for causes in a time of need. And they did it all through laughter.

With this milestone comes a new frontier: becoming an official non-profit to grow, host more shows, expand to other cities, produce more funny content to educate and engage on important causes, and expand community involvement in the movement to make humans laugh while improving humanity.

But they can’t make this happen alone. Becoming a non-profit is time consuming and costly (perhaps just to be certain the profit is non), and Grassroots needs your help! Proceeds from this event will go towards start-up fees and administrative efforts to take things to the next level.

So come on out and escape your couch, bring a friend or five (one for every year that Grassroots Comedy has been improving the world through jokes), and we’ll see you at the show!
