About the event

Strutman Lane

From the outskirts of DC, a group of young men with a mutual love of funk and pop came together to breathe sensuality into new original music. Starting with their 2021 debut single, “I Want You To Know”, Strutman Lane’s rhythm guitar hooks, warm vocals, and driving sax lines cater spiritual pocket grooves to the soul. As former jazz school classmates, each member continues to spend at least 30 minutes a day working modal interchange, so rest assured you’re getting your money’s worth.

After three releases and a couple of viral Tik Toks, Strutman Lane has their sights set higher. In 2022, Strutman Lane released their biggest project yet: “Bedroom Sessions”, an original EP recorded and produced in Adam’s bedroom. With songs ranging from hard hitting road trip bangers, to reflective soul ballads best enjoyed over your morning cup of coffee, “Bedroom Sessions” has something for everyone. Strutman Lane kicked off 2023 with a feature in Washington City Paper, and a sold out show at DC9. The band is excited to hit the studio early this year for their next original release. For better or for worse, Strutman Lane will make you rethink your life choices.

MLLN

MLLN is a R&B vocalist and producer who specializes in harmony and backing vocals. Raised in Maryland, he grew up falling asleep to his mom and dad performing Hindustani Indian classical music on stage. The simple, beautiful melodies inspired him to find a balance between singable pop songs and forward-thinking NeoSoul grooves. MLLN pulls inspiration from artists like Moonchild, Jacob Collier, D’angelo, Tom Misch, Anderson .Paak, Stephen Day, Allen Stone, and many more creatives pushing the industry forward. He has gotten to work with artists such as Lawrence the Band, Jeremy Passion, Melt, Couch, and many others!

Attic Sessions

What was once a literal attic where friends sought solace through the pandemic, Attic Sessions is now a metaphor for the creative space where the influences of jazz, neo soul and rock coalesce into one of DC’s freshest collectives. Initially drawn in by infectious energy and high-caliber musicianship, audiences stay engaged due to the group’s subtle sophistication that never eclipses their listenability. The band’s sound, characterized by soulful vocals, groove, ethereal harmonies and improvisation, is unique for this matter.
