Mawty Maw + Malik Elijah – The Summer Cool Down

Union Stage All Ages
Doors 7PM | Show 8PM

About the event

Mawty Maw

Rhythm flowing through his veins since birth, the village knew he was chosen. From 4 years old, the young prodigy studied classical piano & ragtime under his father, jazz legend, Marcus Roberts. All while learning the essence of writing from his mother, Joyce Cannady, who produced at BET years before his birth. From the bench to the booth, ç designed a very unique sound. The tone of Kanye West when he raps passionate floetry. The wordplay inspired by Lil Wayne. A melodic twist of Chris Brown. Mawty’s versatility is no where near minuscule. On the keys, his left hand resembles an 808. While his right hand paints whatever he feels in his imagination. The world may have never witnessed an artist with this skill set.

Malik Elijahh

Sleep on Malik Elijah. The Maryland-born, Boston-based Alternative Hip-Hop artists wants you to. But when you eventually wake up, I suggest you make up for lost time by diving deep into his catalog. In doing so, you’ll realize you’ve slept on a versatile discography filled with dextrous flows, clever wordplay, and melodic hooks that are quick to embed themselves in the listener’s memory. Pulling inspiration from a wide range of musical styles like Gospel, Jazz, and Trap, Malik has something in his bag for everyone. Whether the DMV native is entrancing the dance floor with rhythmic verses on bouncy instrumentals, juxtaposing different emotions over head-knocking loops, or reflecting on growth and goals via resonant choruses, Malik Elijah will catch your attention, just as he’s caught the attention of listeners with over 1.4M streams since the start of 2023 and outlets like Lyrical Lemonade, Daily Chiefers, ThisSongIsSick, and Okayplayer. The beauty of sleeping on Malik is that he’s still going to be around when you open your eyes, likely on a big stage in a city near you or playing through your homies’ headphones. If you’re deciding whether to listen after reading this, do this one thing – sleep on it. A well-rested mind is more apt to make wise choices, like pressing play on some Malik Elijah.
