Flex was born in Hyattsville, MD. With roots stemming from two Jamaican parents, he discovered his love for music early in life. Growing up in the DMV, he was introduced to jazz , dancehall , gogo, r&b and old school hip hop. Flex earned his name from being a ladies man, as people would compare him to Flex Alexander, from the show, “ One on One.” Flex also has a twin brother and is one of twenty nine siblings. Flex is no stranger to adversity; he’s been able to overcome many trials and tribulations. His past run-ins with the law in his early-life got him arrested and tried for two felonies. One for attempted robbery and another for attempted murder. Regardless he overcame the cases formed against him and chose to put his focus into music rather than the streets.
Flex seamlessly blends different genres of music, as he raps with a message and harmonizes melodies. His vocals are nostalgic and his beats are celebratory. Flex has dabbled in acting as well, he was featured on an episode of HBO’s hit show, “Crashing” with the artist Wale. Flex is also a veteran at entertaining crowds at major venues and festivals. His first touring opportunity came in 2017, as he accompanied Wale’s Shine Tour. More than half of the 20 dates were sold out expanding his diverse fan base. Flex also joined Wale on tour with Nas for another 10 dates. He has also performed in arenas and colleges like UMBC, Uni- versity of Maryland College Park, Towson University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, South Carolina State, Broccoli City, Trillectro , A3C, SXSW, SOB’s, The How- ard Theater, The LBCC Unity Festival and many more.
