Alt-tropical vibes; that describe Cumbia Heights only in part. Chaotic and danceable, psychedelic, and wildly entertaining have been used to describe their music and work. Cumbia Heights has been working in the DC music scene since 2020. Songs like Tumbado, FROM BEYOND, and Saltamontes are a reflection of the many influences that make up Cumbia Heights. As NPR puts it, “they’ve become known for their unique ability to play their own stuff, turn out Latino classics like Jose Jose’s “Una Mañana,” and even remix George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” to fit their neo-cumbia sound.” Come get weird with us… CH
Las Mariposas Galácticas is an 8-piece Cumbia Klezmer Punk band based in Philadelphia, PA. Combining band members’ South American and Jewish ancestries, the band creates a unique diasporic sound that gets audiences everywhere dancing with rebellious joy. By honoring their
Indigenous Andean musical heritage, blended together with punkified ancient Jewish melodies, the band plays a mixture of original and classic tunes that span different languages, cultures, and genres. Las Mariposas have toured the east coast and collaborated with international acts such as the renowned Mexican rock band Los Cogelones and Argentinian Tropi-punk band Kumbia Queers. They have headlined the L.A.T.I.N. PunkFest in Philadelphia and NYC and continue to accompany their communities’ struggle for liberation everywhere from prominent stages to cultural, activist and community spaces.

Victor Archie is a Washington DC-based artist that performs a warped & industrial interpretation of cumbia music. Drawing from his Bolivian roots, Archie takes the most inspiration from chicha; a psychedelic faction of the cumbia scene from the 60s & 70s.
