BrownTown is a monthly, sold out showcase at the DC Comedy Loft that features the top and most exciting comedians of color in Washington, D.C., New York City, and beyond. It is produced by Badar Tareen and Jasmine Burton — two attorney/comedians of different generations and backgrounds who want to create a unique, smart, and high energy show.
Due to popular demand, BrownTown has been expanded to include a hilarious and edgy comedy night at Union Stage that cannot be missed.
Jasmine Burton is a barred attorney from Los Angeles living and working in DC. Jasmine has performed stand up all throughout the DMV – including Room 808, Hotbed, DC Comedy Loft, The Port, and DC Improv – as well as opening up for Aida Rodriguez, Todd Rexx, and Rahmein Mostafavi.
Badar Tareen is a civil rights lawyer by day and stand-up comedian by night. He has done stand-up comedy for about a decade at clubs in New York City, Washington D.C., the West Coast, the Midwest, Europe, and Asia. Badar has opened for comics like Akaash Singh, Zarna Garg, Gary Gulman, and Janeane Garofalo and performed as a selected comedian at over a dozen comedy festivals including the Cleveland Comedy Festival, 5th Borough Comedy Festival, Plano Comedy Festival, etc. Badar and Jasmine Burton produce and perform at the monthly BrownTown showcase at the DC Comedy Loft.
