A spectacular collection of soulful legends from the DMV pay tribute to r& b music icons Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett , Sam & Dave. The Staples Singers, Carla Thomas and others in one of Newmyer Flyers most popular shows.

A Southern Soul Tribute returns with a joyful and rollicking show that celebrates this beloved music and honors it in grand DC style, offering a look at some area soul legends still in their prime.

The 1960’s produced a wealth of great music but perhaps none more important than that produced in a few modest studios in the southern United States. There, an unlikely and diverse collection of musicians, singers, producers and arrangers created some of the grittiest & catchiest hit records ever recorded. The music was inescapably influenced by their surroundings, yet in the home-like atmosphere of the studios, nothing mattered except making the great music that would find its way onto radios and hi-fi’s across the U.S. and the world.

Newmyer Flyer is the 2nd music production company founded by Ron Newmyer, co-creator of BandHouse Gigs. Newmyer specializes in creating unique tribute shows that showcase the great wealth of talent found throughout the area. Past performances have included The Last Waltz Tribute, Dream Discs album tributes, Laurel Canyon, The Songs of Burt Bacharach & Hal David, Love Songs; The Beatles, and others.
